This year's business reception organised by the district of Miesbach focused on the key theme of ‘New Energy - Entrepreneurship’. In a time of change and technological innovation, the event put the spotlight on those who are actively shaping the future of the region with courage and visionary ideas and are prepared to break new ground. Stercom Power Solutions GmbH was honoured with the business award for its outstanding achievements in the field of energy and technology as well as its ‘courage to found’.
With its annual business reception, the district of Miesbach offers a platform for entrepreneurs who are shaping the regional economy with visionary ideas. This year, the Business Reception 2024 sponsored by Unternehmerverband Landkreis Miesbach e.V. focussed on the innovative strength and courage of regional entrepreneurs who are prepared to break new ground and shape the future with visionary ideas. The gala evening, which took place on 17 September at the Bayerischer Hof Miesbach, was opened by Olaf von Löwis of Menar, District Administrator of the district of Miesbach, together with Alexander Schmid from Regionalentwicklung Oberland (REO), who organises the annual reception with his team, and Anton Stetter, Chairman of the Board of UVM Unternehmerverband Landkreis Miesbach e.V., the title sponsor of the event.
All three appealed to companies in the region to show courage and commitment, even in a time of change, and to work together to become effective in the region.
As the highlight of the evening, Stercom Power Solutions GmbH was honoured with the 2024 Business Award for its outstanding achievements in the field of energy and technology and for its courage in founding a company. The company from Weyarn, founded ten years ago by Robert Sterff (CEO), Martin Kutschker (CTO) and Rudi Pauls (COO), is a leading provider of electrical storage systems and power electronics and impresses with its innovation and technological excellence. Simon Schandert, Managing Director of TESVOLT AG and long-standing partner of Stercom, praised the company's great commitment to sustainable energy solutions and their contribution to the energy transition: ‘You had the courage to leave established structures and invest in the future with your innovations.’
The Stercom founders were delighted to receive the business award. ‘We are overwhelmed and very happy about this recognition. It shows us that it was worth having the courage to found our company. Nevertheless, this success would not have been possible without the support of our employees,’ says Martin Kutschker (CTO Stercom). With the tailwind they have gained, they now want to continue full of vigour into the future and drive forward their vision of a sustainable energy world.
In addition to the award ceremony, the guests received inspiring impulses from the past and future as well as valuable regional and national insights. A special highlight right at the beginning was the exciting insider report by keynote speaker Dr Wolfram Weimer, one of the most renowned publicists and commentators on current affairs. His comments on the ‘wild Berlin media republic’ provided participants with exclusive insights into the political and media power structures of the public media landscape. Anton Stetter gave a continuation of last year's impulse. Under the title ‘Was mia mal Imstande waren!’, the Chairman of the Board of UVM provided economic insights into the history of the district of Miesbach, what was already possible at the beginning of the 20th century and how the district was advanced with commitment and entrepreneurship.
Future strategies and regional success models: Impetus for the economy
Two high-calibre panels also provided valuable impetus for the regional and national economy. The first panel focussed on the global and regional challenges facing companies. The experts Dr Manfred Gößl (Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria), Matthias Weber (Hexal AG), Dr Martin Mihalovits (Kreissparkasse Miesbach-Tegernsee) and Susanne Moosreiner (SEP AG) showed how regional development and political measures can strengthen the economy. They emphasised how important it is for entrepreneurs to act proactively and help shape change themselves. In particular, the district of Miesbach is very well positioned economically with favourable framework conditions, such as its proximity to universities and research institutions, its attractive location and a strong SME structure. Nevertheless, the courage to innovate and collaborate could be further strengthened in order to fully utilise the region's potential.
The participants of the second panel, including Markus Wasmeier (Freilichtmuseum Schliersee), Christina Hoppe (Hoppebräu GmbH), Harald Gmeiner (CEO REO) and Cornelia Seebauer (sbs seebauer business solution GmbH), provided an insight into local success models. They emphasised how innovative approaches and bold decisions contribute significantly to the economic success of the region. Above all, the role of regional networks, which contribute to the sustainable strengthening of the region through synergies, was an important point for the panellists. ‘We as REO already offer a few formats that can be platforms for cooperation. We need to actively utilise these in order to be even stronger together,’ explains Gmeiner.
Social commitment and culinary delights.
Once again this year, a sign of social commitment was set: 10% of the ticket revenue went to Haus Bambi, a curative education centre run by Lebenshilfe Miesbach for children and young people with disabilities. The Bayerischer Hof Miesbach catered for the physical well-being with fresh, regional products from the Miesbacher Oberland eco-model region. From Beeftatar and Steckerlfisch to the MiaschBurger, participants were able to experience the diversity of the region in culinary terms. The evening was accompanied by music from the duo Jamenco.
The 2024 Business Reception once again demonstrated how important it is to strengthen economic cooperation in the region and create space for innovation and entrepreneurship. In a great atmosphere, the evening also offered the opportunity to make valuable contacts and gain new impetus for a successful economic future for the district of Miesbach.
