Stercom develops modular, high-performance storage solutions based on ultracapacitors for applications with extremely short charging cycles and high power density. Typical areas of application include launch coasters with linear synchronous drives (LSM), shuttle systems with forward/reverse travel and water-based rides with a regenerative function.

The systems are specially designed for applications with high current peaks, short energy call times and high cycle loads – while at the same time offering high energy efficiency and minimal maintenance.

Technology: Ultracapacitor modules for power-on-demand

Stercom relies on cycle-resistant double-layer capacitors in conjunction with active cell management and highly dynamic system control. Charging is carried out via an Active Front End (AFE) with cos(φ) > 0.99 for grid optimization. The system status (SoC/SoH) is permanently monitored via the integrated BMS and SMU (String Management Unit).

  • Charging time: 10-60 s (customizable according to AFE and network capacity)
  • Cycle Strength: >1,200,000 cycles (at ≤ 100% DoD)
  • Operating temperature range: -40 °C to +70 °C
  • Remote maintenance: via CAN / Ethernet with live diagnostics
  • Modular design: scalable in terms of performance and energy content
  • Efficiency (overall): 89–95 % (depending on system)
